Contact Centres

Dundee has established itself as a strategic location for the successful operation of contact and financial services centres. The city's success in this sector is attributed to Dundee's excellent communication links, talented workforce - including graduate output from three Scottish Universities - and low labour and property costs.

This sector currently employs more than 3700 staff and benefits from the presence of extensive communications infrastructure. Businesses in Dundee have access to the latest digital technology, providing high-speed connectivity and guaranteeing world class levels of access.

The latest review by Scottish Government suggests next generation broadband access in Dundee is expected to be over 98% - one of the highest levels of coverage in Scotland. The availability of these facilities in the city makes Dundee an ideal location to do business, with the necessary infrastructure to deliver services efficiently.

Dundee is currently home to contact centres for companies such as BT, HM Revenue & Customs, JobCentre Plus, Department for Work and Pensions and Tesco. The range of companies located in the city strengthens Dundee's appeal and this was reinforced by the Scottish Government's decision to locate Scotland's new social security agency headquarters in Dundee. This is a vote of confidence in Dundee and will extend the city's skilled workforce with the creation of 750 jobs.
