Dundee City Council, in partnership with Perth & Kinross Council, Angus Council, Fife Council and the Supplier Development Programme, invites businesses of all sizes to a free in-person Meet the Buyer event on 21 March 2023 at the Invercarse Hotel in Dundee. 

New and existing suppliers, particularly sole traders, small businesses and social enterprises in and around  Tayside, are invited to this free event to discover upcoming contract opportunities and get support on procurement processes. 

Meet the Buyer Tayside will give businesses of all sizes the opportunity to meet buyers from: 
•    Angus Council 
•    Dundee City Council 
•    Fife Council 
•    Perth & Kinross Council 
•    NHS Tayside 
•    Universities 
•    Colleges 
•    Tayside Contracts 
•    Supplier Development Programme 
•    Social Security Scotland

Suppliers will also be able to with meet larger contractors to learn about current and active subcontract opportunities, and how to join their supply chains.  

There will be speakers and optional short informational workshops delivered throughout the day, demystifying topics such as Quick Quotes for smaller contracts and top tips on using the Public Contracts Scotland (PCS) website for bidding success.

Arcadia Night 2023 (Organised by Biome Collective)

Arcadia Night 2023

Arcadia Night 2023 brings together leading voices from the videogames industry for an evening of talks, games exhibition and performance.

Arcadia Night 2023, will take place on the evening of Thursday 2nd February from 6-10pm at Discovery Point Dundee and will feature micro-talks from game developers, makers and thinkers from across the industry, an experimental games exhibition and a performance by the wonderful Tinderbox Orchestra!

Arcadia Night is an inclusive, safe space and all are welcome; from professional game makers to students to people just getting into games! To maximise accessibility we will be providing an online stream on YouTube and in the Biome Gallery to help people near and far join in too.

With the Global Game Jam taking place soon after, this will be a great opportunity to connect to other game makers, network and learn from your peers.

WEBINAR: Tay5G Challenge Fund 2023

CeeD is running a lunchtime webinar (12:00-13:00) with Urban Foresight on 11th January to talk about the Tay5G Challenge Fund where you will be able to discuss your ideas and projects that may benefit from the funding, as well as find potential partners.

£450,000 is available through the Challenge Fund to support up to six applicants who can demonstrate impactful projects for products, services or solutions which use 5G.  
Applications which support the region’s focus areas listed below will be prioritised:

Illuminate Dundee is an event designed to shine a light on the thriving life sciences community based in and around Dundee. This event will focus on bringing together local life sciences organisations, creating a platform for attendees to meet industry peers, exchange ideas and collaborate.

Taking place on Wednesday 1 March, the event will begin with an online ‘Lunch and Learn’ session including:

Followed by an in-person networking event at The Street in the School of Life Sciences, the University of Dundee.

The Scotland 5G Centre are hosting a Public Open Day at their S5GConnect Dundee hub on 7th December from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

In partnership with Abertay University, and Dundee City Council, S5GConnect Dundee is helping to drive growth and increase opportunities for employment and investment in the city and the wider Tay Cities region.

Join them at the new CyberQuarter on Abertay University's campus for live demonstrations showcasing the capabilities of 5G technology.

On the day, there will be hourly slots from 9.30am– 4.30pm to take part in the demo's with preliminary 121 technical meeting slots available too.

Following on from last year’s Digital Fortnight, we are pleased to announce a new series of events to run throughout the month of November.   From the 7th to the 21st of November 2022, Dundee schools, Higher and Further Education establishments have teamed up with local and international businesses to deliver a series of events highlighting the successes and opportunities that digital skills of all types can offer for learners of all ages in Dundee and the wider region, and celebrating the contribution of the digital economy to the city.

Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce have partnered with The Department for International Trade to deliver an informative event talking about how to export. Join us at the Exporting Roadshow in Dundee on 8 November at 9am. 

This series of events showcases the support available to Scottish companies ready to start or expand their business overseas. Led by the UK Government Department for International Trade (DIT), working in partnership with Scottish Development International (SDI), UK Export Finance (UKEF), the Scottish Chambers of Commerce and local Chambers of Commerce, this roadshow will set out the fundamentals of how to grow a business internationally.

At the roadshow, you will:

  • Hear local business leaders explain how exporting has helped their companies to grow
  • Learn from trade specialists around the world about the opportunities that are out there
  • Get information on the free tools and support available to you
  • Have the opportunity to discuss your needs 1 to 1 with one of our trade experts
  • We're delighted that we'll be hearing from Rautomead and ATL Turbine Services who will tell us more about the markets that they export to and their experiences.
